Round up

This weekend saw the first round of The Presidents Putter played, with again a weekend of great scores, with an outstanding nett 63 from Martin Murphy, whose handicap has dropped to 9.2 as a result, with the in form Richard Beech scoring a nett 65, and a reduction in handicap to 14. On the day we also saw 2 gross scores recorded under par which just goes to show the level of competition as Ashbourne.

This weekend is the Bagshaw Cup, with a qualifier for The Lombard Trophy, where the player with the leading nett score will qualify to play with myself at Enville Golf Club on Friday, 28 July for the chance to qualify for the Grand Final held at Villa Sol, Portugal on 22/23 September.

Well you made that clear…

Each month we run a new poll on our website which allows you to have your say on the latest golfing topics. As you can see in the image here, last month's poll saw an overwhelming majority of you ( 74% ) vote against the use of video evidence in golf. Recently the R&A issued a new Decision on the Rules of Golf to limit the use of video evidence in the game after Lexi Thompson was penalised four strokes in a ladies major after a TV viewer contacted the LPGA to inform them there had been an infringement the previous day. This move by the R&A has been welcomed with open arms by many people, including tour players and pundits both sides of the pond.
