This week we prove that your golf will only get better with age (well, for some of us anyway), look at the reasons as to why so many players are switching to a counterbalanced putter, and highlight a few impressive features of some of the wedges that we have in-store. Life begins at 50

If you ever needed hope that life keeps on getting better then look no further than Bernhard Langer. During his ‘youthful years’ the magnificent German played on 10 Ryder Cup teams and won a mind-boggling 42 times on the European Tour, the second most of all-time, but it’s what he’s done since turning 50 that impresses us the most.

Courtesy of his three-shot victory at the weekend’s Senior Open Championship, the 59-year-old has now won a record 10 senior majors, one more than fellow Hall-of-Famer Gary Player. It's been one remarkable season for Langer too, having claimed three of these majors in 2017 alone!

So if that doesn’t get you excited for what’s to come then nothing will. We can’t promise that we’ll turn you into a superstar overnight but come and talk to the team if you’re interested in getting better…It's never too late.

This week we have hosted the Brough Jeffrey Trophy with Pete Wilson winning the trophy with a score of 41 points. On Sunday Steve Walwyn registered a nett 68, with runner up Simon Griffiths scoring a nett 69, which sees Simon achieve a lifelong ambition of becoming a scratch handicap golfer for the first time – just 2 weeks after achieving a hole in one on the 5th hole of the Hotchkin Course at Woodhall Spa – both fantastic achievements.

This weekend's competitions include Saturday’s Rose Cup (bogey) and Fred Udal (over 50’s) on Sunday. The hole in one prize fund has now risen to £149.70 for the next hole in one on competition day – remember to enter the 2’s sweep to be eligible.
