Great response It has been great to have so many of you book and begin your winter coaching packages, looking to improve your golf over the winter. As part of my own winter development, yesterday I attended “The Art of Pitching” seminar at The Belfry delivered by world renowned PGA Professionals Steve Orr and Dr Rob Neal, where we examined evidence to support the best methods of pitching, and how the worlds best players play these shots with such accuracy time and time again. Throughout the day there was many lightbulb moments which I cannot wait to share with people as we look at improving short game skills over the coming months. One aspect we looked at in some detail was how and why the Tour players are able to generate so much spin on short pitch shots, and amongst the many ingredients required to play these shots, a towel will be one thing you cannot do without! Using my SkyTrak launch monitor I will present some data in the next few weeks to show how and why this is the case. As part of the research undertaken by Orr and Neal, they used 2 statistics from the PGA Tour to identify the worlds best pitcher over the past 5 years, using shots taken to par and proximity to the hole from within 125 and 50 yards. One player featured in the top 5 of both of those lists… *Competition* The first person to correctly guess the player identified as 'the worlds best pitcher' will win a FREE short game lesson!
