Many of you will own or use a GPS device of some kind, but do you get the most from it? I certainly don’t miss the days of buying a course planner each time I play a new course, hoping to identify the tree where a measurement is taken from and then pace the distance to my ball in order to get a yardage to the centre of the green. Now with a glance at a watch or device you are instantly presented with distances to the front, middle and back of the green, as well as other key points on the hole including hazards and dog legs. But now we have access to this information, how do we use it effectively to reduce our score? Ultimately to get the most from your this information you must KNOW HOW FAR YOU CARRY THE BALL with each club. Once this information is known you are able to confidently select a club which you know (if properly struck) will reach the putting surface, or fall short of a hazard. I often find knowing the distance to the back of a green most useful, as this allows me to swing with full commitment knowing I will not carry the ball too far and see it disappear off the back on the green. Similarly if you are playing an approach shot to a green over water, you can use this yardage to the back of the green as your intended landing spot, giving you an element of safety to ensure your ball clears the water. FIND OUT YOUR EXACT CARRY DISTANCES IN JUST ONE HOUR FOR JUST £25 To help you get the most from I offer a full bag Gapping Session, using SkyTrak technology to accurately measure the carry distances for each club in your bag, and providing you with a handy bag tag for your reference on the golf course, allowing you to use the information from your GPS device to reduce your scores.
